The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got into the endzone, but were stuffed on the two-point try to tie Clemson
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had been getting smacked in the mouth by the Clemson Tigers for three quarters of football on Saturday night, but the fourth quarter told an entirely different story. The Irish fought back valiantly and, after trailing by 18 points entering the quarter, gave themselves a chance at overtime.
It started after Clemson missed a field goal and the Irish drove down the field and got to a goal-to-go situation. With just seconds remaining, DeShone Kizer hit Torii Hunter Jr. for the touchdown on a beautiful fade route and pass:
That made the score 24-22 and the Irish needed the two-point conversion to force overtime in Death Valley. Unfortunately, the Tigers sniffed out the play drawn up as Kizer took the ball to the right side on a quarterback draw and was met by a slew of defenders before he could cross the goal line:

That is the very definition of a rollercoaster of emotions. They went from being the comeback darlings to the guys who just fell short of something awesome on one two-point try.
I guess that’s why, when you’re the sixth-ranked team in the nation, you probably shouldn’t fall down by double-digits on the road.
