New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has become one of the biggest stars in the NFL, despite only playing in his second season. He rose to stardom with a historic rookie season for the Giants in 2014, which included an extraordinary touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys that broke the Internet.

Beckham posted what has been widely considered the greatest rookie season for a wide receiver since Randy Moss in 1998, as he caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdown catches. The 2014 12th overall pick has continued to look like a perennial Pro Bowler in his second NFL season with 24 catches, 307 yards and two touchdowns in four games.

His reputation may be taking a hit after the Giants’ win against the Buffalo Bills though. The former LSU star has been accused by multiple Bills players of throwing punches during the game, and there is a video of him punching Bills safety Duke Williams. Beckham was previously pushed to the ground during a play that involved an interception by Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

While there is no other direct evidence of these claims yet, the Bills have the video of Williams being punched to back up their accusations.

Linebacker Preston Brown was among the most vocal critics of Beckham, and he even slammed the receiver for getting away with his actions for being a star player.

“That’s what he does. He’ll get away it. He’s the ‘golden boy’ of the league. He’s on the cover of Madden. Sometimes, you get away with stuff like that,” Brown said to The Buffalo News.

The Bills had a whopping 17 penalties called against them, but the Giants did not receive a flag after Beckham’s punch. This caused Gilmore to vent his frustrations on Beckham, and he did not hold back.

“He’s different. It’s kind of like you’re playing your little brother and he gets mad at you for being too physical with him — throwing a tantrum. I’m like, ‘Man, we’re playing football. It’s a physical game,” Gilmore said.

“He’s a prima donna. He feels like he’s on top of the world and nobody’s supposed to do anything to him.”

Although Beckham has emerged as one of the most popular players in the NFL and arguably an elite wide receiver already, the 22-year-old’s reputation is sure to be soiled while he may even receive disciplinary action from the NFL.
