Week 5 in the NFL has some fascinating matchups to watch with some important divisional matchups as well as some cross-conference matchups between teams off to hot starts.  It’s also another great week for fantasy football whether you choose to play a daily fantasy football league on DraftKings or FanDuel or are just looking for another good week in your season-long league. One of the keys to success is getting value from some unexpected places. To see some of the non-traditional options that I think are poised for big weeks check out my week 5 sleepers on the following slides.

More from Buffalo Bills

Earlier this week, I posted my full lineup for DraftKings highlighting the matchups I like the most for this week and giving you my full lineups for the site. Due to time constaints and my travel schedule, I wasn’t able to get together a post for my FanDuel picks, but many of my DraftKings picks can be used there as well.

In this weekly Sunday morning post, rather than highlight stars who will cost you a chunk of your salary, I focus on players who are much less expensive options who I think will out-perform their pay grade. If you’re looking for a last-minute addition to your season-long fantasy team, some of these players are on the waiver wire and have the potential to out-perform expectations this week based on matchup, opportunity, and their current form. They all represent risk of some kind, but I think it’s risk that will pay off this week.

After last week’s early game in London, this week the NFL schedule returns to a more normal look this week with eight early Sunday games, three games later this afternoon, and a Sunday night finale as the Giants host the 49ers.  On Monday Night Football, week 5 comes to a close with an intriguing matchup between the Steelers and Michael Vick on the road in San Diego to take on the Chargers.

The Steelers and Chargers should put up some fantasy points based on their track records so far this season, but there are some other matchups to attack as well. On each of the next few slides, you can find some of my favorite value plays for week 5.  I’ve broken my picks down by position and included the salary of the player on both DraftKings and FanDuel. None of these players are in the top tier at their position, but I think they’ll out-perform their price this week. At the bottom of each slide I also included the players that I selected at the position last week. Obviously these week 5 sleepers have risk, but I think they’ll deliver.
