Darren McFadden-RB-Dallas Cowboys (42.6%)

Coming out of their bye week, there was plenty of buzz about the Cowboys shaking up their backfield.  Most of the waiver wire attention wasn’t directed at McFadden, though (although he was in my top ten for last week).  Waiver wire darling Christine Michael did get more carries but still only had five carries for 18 yards.  The big beneficiary of Dallas’s effective run-blocking on Sunday against the Giants was McFadden who had a throwback game after Joseph Randle was forced to the sidelines with a bad back.

McFadden had 29 carries against New York and ripped off 152 yards on the ground while also getting his second touchdown of the season.  He wasn’t quite as involved in the passing game as he was against New England, but he still was targeted twice and hauled in both passes for a total of ten more yards.

McFadden showed he still has some left in the tank and most likely supplanted a frustrating Joseph Randle as the Cowboys primary back moving forward. He’ll still be in a timeshare in an offense that needs better QB play, but any time you can get a starting back behind that offensive line it’s a good pickup. The only downside of grabbing run DMC and plugging him straight into your lineup is that the ‘Boys take on a tough Seahawks defense in week 8.  Even with that matchup, though, McFadden is still a RB2 and is the best widely available running back in season-long leagues.
