The first College Football Playoff rankings have finally been released and there have been a few snubs to take note of. While being in the top four right now is a high honor and something that could potentially mean a spot in the playoff when it’s all said and done, the last rankings are the ones that really matter.

With that being said, which teams did not make it into the first playoff ranking? Snubs are galore and every fan base whose team did not make it, probably automatically thinks they’ve been snubbed — yes, even Toledo.

In reality, there are just a few teams that are deserving of a spot. Who are the week 10 College Football Playoff ranking snubs?

TCU Horned Frogs

Despite an unbeaten record and a Heisman front-runner at quarterback, the TCU Horned Frogs have been left out of the top four — which is a shock to most college football fans. In fact, the Horned Frogs are No. 8 in the first rankings, which is kind of an eye-opener.

Many can argue that the close wins over some inferior opponents such as Kansas State and Texas Tech have contributed to the snubbing, the Horned Frogs still happen to always find a way. Their destiny is in their own hands, though, as winning out would likely result in an appearance in the College Football Playoff.

We already know Boykin is probably the most exciting quarterback in the country and he is going to do everything he can to put up some style points for TCU.

Stanford Cardinal

Stanford comes in at No. 11 which happens to be pretty surprising. After losing the season opener to Northwestern, the Cardinal find themselves outside the top-10. Kevin Hogan has been playing fantastic football since then, but even a loss to a now-ranked Wildcats team isn’t enough to have them inside the top-10.

If Stanford keeps winning in the fashion that they have been, it will be hard to leave them out. In my opinion, the Cardinal are the top one-loss team in the country — yes, that includes better than Alabama.

Baylor Bears

Wow, No. 6. This one would be a surprise if the Bears were at full strength, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worst as it was revealed star quarterback Seth Russell would be out for the rest of the year with a neck injury.

Still, though, snub is the perfect word to describe a team that has been destroying opponents all year long and making the rest of the Big 12 look silly while TCU has played their inferior opponents very close.

If Baylor goes unbeaten, or even has one loss, throughout the rest of the year and it doesn’t make the playoff top-four, this would be the second straight season in which head coach Art Briles would feel shafted by the committee.

Michigan State Spartans

People believed that Michigan State would find itself in the top-four in the first rankings, but the Spartans have been snubbed despite an unbeaten record, ranking No. 7 in the country.

Michigan State controls its own destiny as of right now as winning out would likely mean a spot in the College Football Playoff would be reserved for the Spartans. However, Michigan State can’t keep winning close games against inferior opponents if it wants to rise in the polls.

Clearly the committee is not impressed by this team right now, but wins over Ohio State and the Big Ten West champ would change that perception.
