The Timberwolves took the Magic to overtime, but Orlando’s Evan Fournier sent everyone one with a game-winner.

Entering the night, both the upstart Orlando Magic and Minnesota Timberwolves were each 5-6, and each team has provided many highlights from their young, on-the-rise stars so far in the young stages of the season.

Wednesday night’s game was an absolute thriller, needed overtime to finish. Nodded up at 101-101 apiece in the closing moments of the first OT, Magic shooting guard Evan Fournier took it upon himself to take a pull-up three with just over :05 remaining; Fournier hit the shot, which ended up being the game-winner:

Orlando hasn’t had much to cheer in the last few years, and defeating a team with Andrew Wiggins and early Rookie of the Year favorite Karl-Anthony Towns should be a good win to help the psyche of this young team close games.

The Magic, who have been rebuilding their roster since trading Dwight Howard, have a roster littered with young talent and hired a stable head coach, Scott Skiles, in the offseason to look like a formidable playoff contender in the East. That talent was on full display tonight. Victor Oladipo had his worst game of the season, and he was HAMMERED for it on Twitter, finishing with just 1 point in 20 minutes, yet the Magic still pulled off the 104-101 victory.

Lat year’s first-round selection Elfrid Payton finished the game with 24 points, forward Tobias Harris finished with 12 and Fournier led the team in scoring again tonight with 26. Not to be outdone, both Wiggins and Towns — the last two first-overall selections — were spectacular in their own right. Towns finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season. Wiggins led the T-Wolves in scoring with 28 points.
