Ricky Rubio is back to his old tricks. In his fourth game back from injury, Rubio faked a timeout call and then dished out a sweet alley-oop to his teammate.

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio has been cursed for most of his NBA career. He has suffered countless injuries and setbacks. He’s already missed over 100 games in just his first five seasons. However, when he has been healthy, he’s been a very special player. He proved that on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic.

Nice finish there by Karl-Anthony Towns. Rubio has energized the Timberwolves when he has been in the lineup. In seven games this season, he is averaging a career-high 12.1 points per game. He’s also averaging 8.1 assists per game and he’s doing it without Kevin Love around. He’s also averaging 5.1 rebounds per game. He is second on the team in PER with 20.2. Towns is first, in large part thanks to Rubio doing things like that.

Ricky Rubio has career averages of 10.2 points per game and 8.2 assists per game. He was the fifth overall pick by the Timberwolves in the 2009 NBA draft. It’s hard to remember that he’s only 25 years old so he should continue to get better. Minnesota is looking to improve to .500 with a win tonight as they are currently 5-6.
