It’s wild to think, but here we are at Week 14 in the season and the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers are meeting up for the first time all season.

If we were having this discussion in, oh, October or early November then this contest would absolutely be the Game of the Week. At that time, both teams looked to be juggernauts and legitimate threats to take not only the NFC South, but the National Football Conference as a whole.
Fast forward to December and it’s plain to see which club was the real deal and which was fool’s gold. The Falcons have fallen off the face of the earth and look like a lead balloon. Meanwhile, the Panthers are a legitimate shot to go undefeated. Really, the Dirty Birds are probably their biggest threat.
It’s almost a shame we’ve had to wait this long, considering the division’s playoff spot was determined by this game last year. But hey, better late than never.
