Timberwolves rookie big man Karl-Anthony Towns threw down on Boris Diaw in a big way

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been more competitive than most people would have expected at the start of the 2015-16 season, largely because No. 1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns has been an absolute revelation right out of the gate in his first season in the league. Even veterans like San Antonio Spurs big man Boris Diaw have been falling victim to the talented rookie.

Towns has show proficiency on both ends of the floor, but what’s been fantastic is how he’s handled the physicality of the league with no fear. On Monday night against the Spurs, Towns proved that once again as he drove hard at the rim and delivered an absolutely monstrous dunk over top of Diaw:

With how young and how impressive Towns already is, he’s going to be an incredibly special talent. Playing alongside Ricky Rubio and Andrew Wiggins, this Timberwolves team is going to be one of the best in the league in the not too distant future. It’s plays like this and games against teams like San Antonio where they remain competitive despite being at a disadvantage that really bangs home the point of just how much potential the rookie and his team have.
