Now that he’s on his way to WWE, will we see Shinsuke Nakamura in the 2016 Royal Rumble?

Shinsuke Nakamura has been one of the biggest wrestling legends in Japan for the better part of the last decade, and while it seemed impossible, people have wanted to see him make the jump overseas and sign with WWE. Well, on Monday night right before RAW began, we learned that it was not as impossible as we all thought, as news broke that he, along with a few other notable New Japan Pro Wrestling stars had signed with the company.

Really, this is one of the biggest WWE signings of the past few years. While there might be some people over here in the United States who aren’t all too familiar with his work, rest assured that he is one of the biggest wrestling stars that the country of Japan has ever had in history.

So, now, with the news that Nakamura will finally be gracing the American people with his presence on a regular basis, the speculation has turned to when he could see him make this long awaited debut. Given the time of year it is, of course, people are wondering whether or not the “King of Strong Style” could be making an appearance in the Royal Rumble match at the end of the month in Orlando, a match which is now for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Well, unfortunately that might not be a real possibility.

While it seems that Nakamura is free to come to work for WWE anytime now, there is the issue of him being the Intercontinental holder at this point still. Yes, we did see recently where Alberto Del Rio came back to WWE while he was the AAA Champion, it’s not likely that WWE will make a move like that again, and quite frankly, I don’t think someone with the respect Nakamura has would let that happen anyway. He will drop that Intercontinental title to presumably Kenny Omega before he sets foot in a WWE ring, and that probably won’t take place before the Royal Rumble.

But rest assured, even without a Royal Rumble appearance, Shinsuke Nakamura will be hitting a WWE ring very soon here in 2016, which is all that really matters.
