Zach LaVine wins 2016 NBA Rising Stars Game MVP Award
Zach LaVine took home the NBA Rising Stars Game MVP award on Friday night.
On Friday night, the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities began. First was the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game and following that was the eventful NBA All-Star Rising Stars Game. The league’s top rookies and sophomores are featured in this game, being split into Team USA and Team World.
This can be considered a lite version of Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game. Little defense is played and plenty of highlight dunks are seen throughout the 40 minutes of action. Team USA would go on to win this, 157-154.
There were many great performances during Friday night’s game. However, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine took home the MVP award for his performance. He put up 30 points to lead Team USA to a victory. Kristaps Porzingis and Emmanuel Mudiay were right behind him with 30 points each.
LaVine has become a star of the All-Star Game festivities over the past few years. He won the 2015 NBA Dunk Contest with a few impressive slams that were said to have ignited the event that had been losing luster. The UCLA product will be in action during the 2016 version of the contest on Saturday night and could win the event for the second straight year.
