NBA trade rumors: Randy Foye drawing trade interest
By John Buhler
Randy Foye could have some value on the NBA trade market as a veteran leader in the backcourt, but would the Denver Nuggets want to consider moving him?
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Denver Nuggets veteran reserve guard Randy Foye “has garnered significant traction as a veteran guard” and could help a team pushing for the NBA Playoffs in their backcourt.
Wojnarowski writes that it would be difficult for the Nuggets to part ways with Foye by Thursday’s 3:00 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline, due to Foye being a steadying veteran on the club. While Foye’s best days as a versatile guard in the NBA are behind him, he can certainly come off the bench for a playoff-caliber team this season if the Nuggets think that they can get a respectable return for the 10-year NBA veteran.
Foye has been one five different teams since being drafted No. 7 overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2006 NBA Draft out of the University of Villanova. While Foye has been traded four times during his NBA career, the guard is capable of playing both the one and the two.
Foye has been in Denver the last three years, and has only made the NBA Playoffs once in his 10 NBA seasons with the 2011-12 Los Angeles Clippers. At 32 years old, Foye could provide a contending team with credible ball handling and decent shooting coming off the bench to play roughly 20 minutes a game.
The Nuggets have several decisions to make facing the NBA trade deadline, as they are in 11th place in the Western Conference at 22-32, six games back of the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final playoff spot.
