NBA Rumors: Denver Nuggets will buyout J.J. Hickson
According to a report, the Denver Nuggets will buyout veteran center J.J. Hickson, so that he can join on with a playoff team.
Once the NBA Trade Deadline is over, some teams will begin working on buyouts of veterans that are on expiring deals, so that they can jump on with a contending team for the stretch run of the season into the playoffs. While the Denver Nuggets are showing a lot of promise with their young talent, they are heading for the lottery and are beginning to move some of their vets.
The team traded Randy Foye to the Oklahoma City Thunder before the traded deadline and now they’re beginning the next phase of buying out players. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Nuggets will begin working on a buyout for veteran center J.J. Hickson.
Hickson will certainly be an appealing option for playoff teams that are looking for more depth up front. His offensive game is limited, but he does a great job of grabbing rebounds and being a presence inside. He’s the perfect bench addition for teams and he will probably have a list of suitors waiting to add him for the rest of the season.
The Nuggets also will work on buyout for Steve Novak, whom they acquired in the deal with the Thunder for Foye. It’s officially buyout season in the NBA and Hickson will be one of the first buyouts that contending teams can get their hands on.
