Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis won’t play against the Timberwolves, after suffering a foot injury in pregame warmups.

New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis has been on a tear the past week with some huge performances. Heading into Saturday night, everyone was looking forward to seeing Davis match up against Minnesota Timberwolves rookie sensation Karl-Anthony Towns.

Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. During pregame warmups before the two teams do battle in New Orleans on Saturday night, Davis suffered a right foot injury.

There’s no word on the severity of the injury, but it’s enough for the Pelicans to pull Davis out of action on Saturday night. With the Pelicans having a down season, it’s better to be safe and rest Davis if there’s any slight injury concerns.

With it being in the later stages of the season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Pelicans continue to rest him until he is fully healed.

Both the Timberwolves and Pelicans have plenty of young talent on their roster, but this is a game where the loser of the game might benefit more from adding ping pong balls for the upcoming NBA Lottery. It was a game that was supposed to have an exciting battle between two talented players in the NBA in Davis and Towns, but that dream will have to wait until the next time the two teams play.
