According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari has two torn ligaments in his ankle.

There appears to be some bad news for the Denver Nuggets in regards to the ankle injury for forward Danilo Gallinari. After it was believed that Gallinari could be out for a while, it looks like now that those reports are true and he could be out even longer.

According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets say that Danilo Gallinari has two torn ligaments in his ankle.

With the calendar turning to March, it’s probably safe to assume that Gallinari is out for the year. It’s a shame to see his season come to an end, after he’s fought hard to come back before from prior injuries, including major knee surgery.

Gallinari is ultimately the engine that makes the Nuggets drive on offense and at the trade deadline, the Nuggets showed that Gallinari will be a big part of their future by holding onto him. The Nuggets are building a strong young core of talent and are likely to have another high pick again this year.

Still, for a player that has worked hard to battle through injuries, this is the last thing the Nuggets wanted to see.
