According to Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons are closing in on a deal with free agent center Alex Mack
The Cleveland Browns got a surprise when center Alex Mack decided to opt out of the remaining years of his deal and become a free agent. Mack was heavily sought after by a number of teams, but it appears that the free agent is close to signing with the Atlanta Falcons.
Mack should help the Falcons upgrade their offensive line. Heās a three time Pro Bowler (2010, 2013, and 2015) and was named to the second team All-Pro team for the Associated Press and for Pro Football Focus in 2013. Mack was originally drafted by the Browns in the 2009 NFL Draft with the 21st overall pick. He has played in 101 NFL games, all of them with the Browns.

Alex Mack has proven to be quite durable, missing just 11 games in his seven seasons in Cleveland and playing in all 16 games in six of those seven seasons. He grades as one of the better blocking centers in the league and his football IQ should help him assist Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan with running the Falcons offense efficiently. The 30 year old center should be a solid upgrade to a Falcons team that needs an upgrade at center.
