With the NFL Draft approaching, we take a look at the five worst draft picks in Atlanta Falcons history. 

You could probably say that a franchise with only one Super Bowl appearance in 50 years has a long history of bad draft picks. There may be some truth to that.

Last week we examined the five best draft picks in Atlanta Falcons history, and today we look at the five worst.

There were a number of players in that list that really panned out for the Falcons. High draft picks who lived up to the billing, and even some lower draft picks that were a great value.

For the worst draft picks, it’s hard to look beyond the first round. If this list were just over the past decade we could include second round picks like Jimmy Williams (2006) or Chris Houston (2007). But since it’s all time, every player will be first round duds.

It’s a tough pill to swallow when you pick a player who is projected to be a starter in the NFL for 8-10 years but it turns out they aren’t fit to be a starter at all. In some cases, they aren’t fit to even play in the NFL.

What can be even worse is picking players in the top five-10 picks overall and then have them completely flame out. You’re about to find out how the Atlanta Falcons have done just that not once but several times.

Careful considerations must be given to any player the Falcons believe is worthy of a first round pick, or they could end up like these…
