Jake “The Snake” Roberts reaches out to help Johnny Manziel

The WWE legend is willing to help out the struggling Johnny Manziel.

It hasn’t been easy for Johnny Manziel. Due to his off field antics and his lack of commitment, the reputation of “Johnny Football” has been rocketing downward.  After getting cut by the Browns a few weeks ago, he was recently let go by his agent. Just yesterday, Johnny lost Nike as an official sponsor. While he is young, Johnny must learn to take care of himself. Partying 24/7 does not make you a likeable guy, especially if that’s all that you are known for (unless your name is Gronk, who can balance everything out).

While he dipped in and out of rehab, Johnny does not feel that he needs that type of treatment. The concern that everyone now has is this: Will it be too late when he will truly need help?

It turns out that someone does care about the well-being of the 23-year old QB. This someone happens to have had their own personal demons at one point. I’m talking about the “Master of the DDT,” Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

What a very classy gesture by the wrestling legend to help out someone in need. For someone like him who has gone through that struggle, I’m sure Jake is looking for the best intentions for the young Manziel.

For those of you who didn’t know, “The Snake” had issues with drugs and alcohol during his professional wrestling career. During a time where the media wasn’t following your every move, anything was possible. His attitude could show he was struggling, and he even relapsed at several points as he was moving around promotions. Jake entered a 14-week voluntary rehab program by WWE in December 2007. It wasn’t until the help of Diamond Dallas Page and DDP Yoga that “The Snake” returned to form. By going to AA meetings, losing weight and getting motivated by DDP, Jake has been able to exorcize his demons.

If there’s one piece of advice I can give to Johnny Manziel, it is to take the offer from Jake Roberts. It would benefit him greatly just to be comforted by someone who had the same lifestyle and problems as a result from it. Johnny could have a bright future someday if his mind is in the right place. It may just take a legend like “The Snake” to drill that into his head.
