Johnny Manziel now knows what the bond will be in his case after he was indicted for the alleged assault of an ex-girlfriend.
While he continues to search for a NFL team who will actually sign him for the upcoming season, Johnny Manziel now knows how much it is going to cost him to get out of jail over a recent indictment in a troubling assault case.
The Akron (OH) Beacon Journal reported Wednesday that Manziel will have his bond set at $1,500 after he was indicted by a grand jury for the alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend (including threatening to kill both her and harm himself) in late January at both a hotel near Dallas, Texas and her home in nearby Fort Worth.
Johnny Manziel’s lawyer has said that the former Cleveland Browns quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner in college with the Texas A&M Aggies will turn himself in to police next week, but would not say exactly what date that would take place.
Manziel faces up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine if he is convicted of the charges against him. The bond is reportedly the amount usually given in Texas for cases such as this one.
The incident seemed to be the final straw for the Browns when it came to Manziel, as they announced they were going to let him go even before the March free agency period began. Johnny Manziel was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and did make several starts for the team over the past two years.
Manziel made headlines recently when he was let go by super agent Drew Rosenhaus after the quarterback did not seek help for issues such as substance abuse. It was the second time Manziel had been fired by an agent in the span of several months.
