Arizona Diamondbacks David Peralta: Is A DL Stint Coming?
By Bill Pivetz
David Peralta has missed the last four games with a forearm injury. More information should be released soon. Does that mean a DL sting is coming?
The Arizona Diamondbacks made a lot of moves during the offseason in order to compete in the National League West. Along with the players they brought in, the team has some good home-grown talent. After a breakout season last year, David Peralta was looked at as the No. 3 hitter on the team entering this year. His season is currently on pause with a forearm injury, but how long will that last?

Peralta has missed the last four games with a forearm injury. It began as a sore right forearm, but is scheduled to meet with specialist Dr. Don Sheridan on Thursday. Peralta has dealt with forearm issues on and off throughout the season and meeting with a specialist does not bring optimism to his fantasy owners.
So far this season, 33 games, David Peralta is hitting .260 with three triples, three home runs, 12 RBI and a 28:8 K:BB ratio. He is the No. 196 player on the Player Rater. The low batting average and lack of steals is hurting him. Last season, he hit 10 triples, 17 home runs, 78 RBI and a .312 average, No. 77 overall.
While he’s been out, Brandon Drury has filled in for the Diamondbacks in the outfield. He has six home runs, 13 RBI and a .292 average in 113 at bats. Luckily, Arizona has a decent back up to rill in while their starter is hurt. Most other teams aren’t fortunate enough to be in that situation.
Peralta is owned in 86.0 percent of ESPN leagues, a decline of 4.6 percent over the last week. Peralta was a 10th-round pick in ESPN leagues, the No. 23 outfielder off the board.
Anyone who owns David Peralta, like myself, likely have an outfielder or two on their bench. Unfortunately, they cannot match the upside that Peralta provides. If he is placed on the 15-day DL, keep him rostered. If it’s the 60-day DL, the decision becomes a little tougher. I would drop him in standard leagues and hold tight in deeper ones. There are plenty of options available, though.
Jackie Bradley Jr (61 percent owned) is one of them. He has five home runs and two six-RBI games in his last seven games. Another one is Marcell Ozuna (40 percent). He has four homers and nine RBI in his last 15 games.

This news could not come at a worse time fantasy owners and Diamondbacks fans alike. There are already a ton of injuries just six weeks into the season. David Peralta may not have the star power as some of the other players, but he can be just as productive.
More news should be released over the weekend.
