Who are the best waiver wire options this upcoming week? If your team is in need of a hot hand at the moment, here are three hitters that can make an impact.

Week 10 of the fantasy baseball season is indeed upon us. The standings have begun to take shape in your respective leagues. Where do you currently stand? By now, the dominant teams have taken hold of the league and the weak teams remain towards the bottom. Some of you may need to really gear up for the rest of the season. Here are some hot waiver wire acquisitions that can help you get started this week.

  1. Adam Duvall (OF) – Reds

After playing no more than 28 games in either of his first two seasons in the MLB, Adam Duvall has certainly gotten his feet wet here in 2016, and in impressive fashion. Duvall has gotten off to a surging start throughout the first two months of the baseball season. So far he has played in 51 games this year, which nearly equals his career total from the previous two seasons.

He has been an everyday outfielder for the Reds this year. So far, to this still young fantasy season, Duvall has already accumulated 47 hits. He holds a .267 batting average with 16 long balls and 35 RBI. He currently is in a three-way tie for fourth in the MLB with his 16 home runs. This is very impressive for the 27-year-old playing in his first full season and it should be valued by fantasy owners everywhere. He’s scored 29 runs as well for the Reds this season.

Duvall is still a free agent in nearly 40% of ESPN fantasy leagues out there. With this young man putting up these types of numbers throughout the season, it is very surprising he is not owned in more. Duvall has hit safely in seven of his last nine games for which he has put up seven, count um’, seven home runs and 14 RBI. If these numbers don’t make you press the free agent “add” button, I don’t know what will. He has really been tearing it up this past month.

2. Logan Morrison (1B) – Rays

Logan Morrison, the Rays current first baseman is too on a current hot streak as of late, which is why he is number two on my list this week. Morrison is in the midst of a current eight game hitting streak for Tampa Bay and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12. He has multiple extra-base hits in that time including three home runs and eight RBI.

I don’t project this to last for any extended period of time especially when his playing time goes down once Logan Forsythe is able to return. However, he can be an extra boost if you are in need of first base or utility help this week. On the season thus far, Morrison is batting .253 with five home runs and 15 RBI while scoring 17 runs for the Rays. He is only owned in 12% of leagues out there, so his hot hand will be up for grabs for most of you. Ride it while you can and put up some big points.

After a slow start to the season, Morrison has certainly rebounded nicely. He face the likes of Arizona’s and Houston’s rotations respectively this week. Both staffs have been highly inconsistent so far this season, so Morrison may be able to benefit from that; especially while he keeps hitting like this.

3. Evan Gattis (C/DH) – Astros

Evan Gattis is number three on my list this week for a number of reasons. The main reason being, that over this past weekend he played his fifth game at catcher for the Astros this season. Some leagues may still require a few more starts, but he will have a catcher tag in the near future. Productive fantasy catchers are hard to come by and once eligible, Gattis will definitely be seen as one of them. He can mash with some of the games best and put decent numbers at a position that overall struggles in fantasy.

Granted, his ownership has increased substantially during the past few weeks since returning to the Astros lineup, he is still very low owned. Currently he is owned by only 40.6% of leagues out there, which can leave the other 60% to go out and grab him. That is definitely recommended. For the season, Gattis has a .248 batting average, with eight home runs and 22 RBI. Four of those long balls coming in recent games.

This past week, Gattis has hit three home runs and nine RBI. This is another reason he should be added to your squad this week. Gattis has looked much more impressive since returning from the minors. Look for him to keep improving this week as he see’s more and more playing time; some behind the plate, where he will be able to gain catcher eligibility for fantasy owners out there, as previously stated.

Look for these hitters to continue their hot streaks this week. With the exception of Morrison, these players could all be worth holding as the season progresses. Players like Gattis and Duvall especially can help your team on a consistent basis.
