DraftKings MLB picks for June 7

We finally get a full 15 game slate in the main tournament tonight, marking the first time this has happened in June! That leaves us plenty of good choices, but who are the best? Let’s check the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Zach Davies has never faced the A’s, but in his last outing he was brilliant against a good Cardinals lineup. Davies could be a very nice play tonight. Likewise, opposing starter Sean Manaea has never faced the Brewers. Manaea has had a few good outings, but he has had some bad ones too, which makes him a risk.

Steven Matz has never faced the Pirates. He will do so tonight on an extra day of rest after last night was rained out.

Aaron Blair has never faced the Padres, but are you really going to trust a guy that has given up 17 runs in his last three starts, even against the Padres?

Joe Ross has never faced the White Sox, but he is 5-4 with a 2.37 ERA so far this year. He has only given up more than two runs in a game twice this year.

Mike Leake will be facing the team that he spent his first six seasons with for the first time tonight in St. Louis. With the way the Reds have been struggling to score runs. Leake could be a decent option.

Julio Urias has struggled in his first stint in the majors, and is making his first start against the Rockies. In his defense, Urias has faced the Mets and the Cubs so far. It wont get any easier against the Rockies, so you should likely leave him alone here.

Adam Conley and Pat Dean will face off against each other in another interleague matchup in which they have no histories against their opponent. Conley is the favorite because he has a better track record, and a better offense on his side. That said, the Twins still hit lefties pretty hard.

The struggling Matt Moore has never faced Arizona. He has only give up less than two runs once this year. That was in his first start of the season. Steer clear of this as well.

Don’t even think about using Albert Suarez against the Red Sox. Just…….don’t.

Best Bets:

Kyle Hendricks ($10,800): Hendricks has dominated the Phillies so far in his career. The Phils are hitting only .167 in 42 at bats with just two runs scored and 10 strikeouts. Hendricks has helped himself by only allowing one walk. Due to the elevated strikeout rate and the great chance at a win, Hendricks will be hard to beat tonight.

Cole Hamels ($10,300): Hamels was sharp against the Astros on May 22nd, racking up 37.8 DraftKings points. I wouldn’t rule out him doing it again. The Astros are only hitting .239 against Hamels in 117 at bats, but they do have six homers. However, they have only scored 11 runs and struck out 30 times. Hamels has limited the damage and racked up piles of strikeouts. Expect more of the same here.

Honorable Mention:

Aaron Sanchez ($10,500): Okay, there are a few reasons that Sanchez is not on my elite radar tonight. First off, the Blue Jays have dropped hints all over the place that they are watching his pitch count. That will result in him being pulled earlier, especially if he racks up strikeouts, which is what we really want. It’s quite a conundrum. The next is that he has a small sample sizeĀ against a good Detroit offense. The Tigers are just 2-13(.154), but how much can you trust that? Also. they have only struck out once in those 13 at bats. There is a huge caveat emptor sign on Sanchez.

Jon Niese ($8,100):Ā The Mets are hitting just .171 against Niese in 35 at batswtih ten strikeouts. The most successful Met has been Curtis Granderson. The Grandy Man is 3-9 wtih three singles and three strikeouts. the matchup against Matz is not a great one, but Niese has the potential to keep this close. However, he has never faced Yoenis Cespedes, who tortures left handed pitching.

Dark Horses:

John Lamb ($5,500):Ā Lamb faced the Cardinals twice during his September call up last year, and didn’t allow a run in 11 innings against them. He also struck out 12. Will his success against the Redbirds carry over into this year?

Mat Latos ($5,300): Latos fared well against the Nationals when he was in the National League. The Nats are only hitting .213 off of Latos in 80 at bats with two homers, nine RBI, and 13 strikeouts. The low strikeout totals and his 6.41 ERA in May make him a risk, but they past stats say Latos could have a solid outing.

Yordano Ventura ($5,100): Ventura has actually fared well against the Orioles. They are hitting .242 against him, but they have only one homer, five RBI, and a whopping 27 strikeouts. Adam Jones has the only homer and three of the RBI, but he is just 3-13 against Ventura. Chris Davis is 0-10. Jonathon Schoop is 1-12. If you trust the past stats and not this season’s performance so far, Ventura could have a great night! Oh, did we mention he is facing off against the struggling Ubaldo Jimenez? Another selling point for Yordano!

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about ā€œstackingā€ pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Jose Altuve ($5,100) is 5-13(.385) with a walk, a homer, and two RBI against Hamels. Colby Rasmus ($3,400) is 5-16(.313) with a walk,Ā a homer, and three RBI. Evan Gattis ($3,800) is now listed as a catcher on DraftKings, and he is 7-20 with three solo home runs against Hamels.

It may be a little bit dangerous to stack Rangers against Dallas Keuchel considering they are only hitting .255 against him, but they have driven in 33. When they do hit, they seem to do damage. Take Elvis Andrus ($4,100) for example. He is only 11-47(.234) against Keuchel, but he has five RBI. Adrian Beltre ($5,200) is only 12-46(.261), but he has a homer and five RBI. Ian Desmond ($5,000)Ā seems to have him figured out though. Desmond is 4-8 with a walk, a double, a homer, and five RBI off of Keuchel already. Rougned Odor and Prince Fielder have also taken Keuchel deep despite lackluster career numbers off Keuchel.

You have to wonder how much longer the contending Orioles will keep rolling Ubaldo Jimenez out there. Ubaldo is 2-6 with an ever-rising ERA now perched at 6.59. Lorenzo Cain ($5,000) is 8-17(.471) with two walks, a homer, and five RBI against Ubaldo. Eric Hosmer ($5,500) is 10-29(.345) with six walks, a double, two homers, and seven RBI against Ubaldo. On Ā the bright side, Jimenez doesn’t have to face Alex Gordon or Mike Moustakas. Combined they are 14-60 with two homers and seven RBI. Cheslor Cuthbert, anyone?

Robinson Cano ($4,100) is 5-11(.455) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and four RBI against Carlos Carrasco. Kyle Seager ($3,800) is 2-3 with a solo homer against Carrasco. Nelson Cruz could also be worth a look. Cruz is 3-11 with two doubles.

Denard Span ($3,700) is 11-29(.379) with two walks and four RBI against Rick Porcello. Conor Gillaspie ($2,300) is 10-24(.417) with a double, a homer, and six driven in against Porcello. That could earn him a start for the Giants tonight.

Yunel Escobar ($3,700) is 7-15(.467) with two walks, a double, two homers, and six RBI against Michael Pineda already in his career.

Want a great bargain tonight? Rajai Davis ($3,400) is 3-7 with a walk, two homers, and five RBI against Wade Miley in his career. This is an easy pick!

Wilson Ramos ($4,100) is 3-9 with three walks, a double, and a solo homer against Mat Latos. Daniel Murphy ($5,300) is 7-19(.368) with two doubles and two RBI.

If you are looking to go cheap, Logan Morrison ($3,700) is 5-10 with two walks, two doubles, and three RBI against Zack Greinke.

Adrian Gonzalez ($3,900) isĀ 3-11 with two walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Eddie Butler. Justin Turner ($3,200) is an impressive 8-11(.727) with two walks, three doubles, and two RBI against Butler.

Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson both hit a solo homer off of Matt Boyd in his only career start against the Blue Jays. Can they do it again?
