1. player. 28. . AFC. West. Oakland Raiders

This will make Broncos fans cringe, but the best landing spot for Miller if he doesn’t stick in Denver is with their AFC West rival in the Oakland Raiders. Along with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the AFC South, there isn’t an AFC franchise more on the rise than the Raiders are under second-year head coach Jack Del Rio.

Oakland may be the poorest NFL franchise, but the Raiders have a great coaching staff in place, a solid front office, a rabid, playoff starved fan base, and most importantly several outstanding young football stars to build a championship contender around.

The Raiders have their franchise quarterback in Derek Carr, a strong young wideout in Amari Cooper, and a sensational pass rusher to pair opposite of Miller in Khalil Mack. A Mack/Miller pairing in the Raiders’ linebacker corps would be beyond unfair to any team having to face Oakland in the AFC.

While the threat of relocation is still very much in the conversation for the Raiders, the Oakland franchise should still have a ton of salary cap room to try to entice Miller to play for one of the Broncos’ biggest rivals.

The Silver and Black are about to become a powerhouse in the AFC and the Broncos are going to have to spend a few years reloading to even get back to a Super Bowl. Will owner Mark Davis overspend to land Miller away from Denver is the biggest question in this potential free agency destination.

Keep in mind that much of the Raiders’ young corps won’t hit free agency for a few years, so even the poor Raiders could be able to offer Miller a ridiculous contract. With the roster being built in Oakland, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Miller would take less to win at a high level again before retiring, only this time with the Raiders in the Bay Area.
