3. Jamal Murray – Kentucky

Now we’re moving into the backcourt in regards to draft targets, the area that seemingly makes just a bit more sense for the Timberwolves right now. Even if you like Zach LaVine and Ricky Rubio, you have to wonder if they limit the ceiling of this Minnesota team as a starting backcourt. Moreover, you’d like to have a more consistent scoring weapon if you’re the Wolves and Jamal Murray out of Kentucky could unquestionably be that guy.

Make no mistake that there are questions abound about Murray’s ceiling and what he could be as an overall player in this league. He’s not as young as you might think he is, he showed very little interest in doing anything on the defensive end of the floor in his one season with the Wildcats in college, and we still don’t really know if he can facilitate to create shots for his teammate.

But damn can the young man put the ball in the cup.

Jamal Murray can flat out score the rock. He has a jumper that I think is a bit underrated by his detractors, but also has solid athleticism and just a smoothness to his attack when it comes to trying to score that you don’t see all too often. If the Wolves are looking to add a player on the perimeter that could legitimately make an impact offensively right way, Murray would be the place to look despite other questions.
