3. Fits Thibodeau’s style

No matter how you look at it, this is Tom Thibodeau’s team now. He is not only the head coach of the team, but he has full control of the personnel as President of basketball operations.

Make no mistake about it, draft Dunn was Thibodeau’s decision, and he is a perfect fit for what he likes to do.

Thibodeau has always been looked at as a defensive-minded coach whose teams consistently play hard for him on that side of the court. Dunn is not only an incredibly hard-worker who always plays at 100 percent, he has the natural skills to be a dominant perimeter defender.

A fast and athletic player who also brings great size and length to the point guard position (6-4 with a 6-9 wingspan), Dunn has a chance to grow into a lock-down defender on the outside, especially under the tutelage of Thibodeau.

Rubio is also a fantastic defender at the point guard position, but he does not have the raw ability and length of a guy like Dunn. Personally, I think Thibodeau sees Dunn as a guy who can defend multiple positions. In today’s NBA where switching is absolutely key, Dunn could become an extremely valuable defensive weapon.

With Dunn on the court at point guard along with guys like Andrew Wiggins, LaVine and Anthony-Towns, the Timberwolves are going to have a ton of versatility on the defensive end and Thibodeau will know how to make the most of that.

Minnesota is a lock-down defensive team in the making and Dunn is going to play a huge role in that.
