1. Opportunity to grow

Kris Dunn enters the NBA as one of the most pro-ready players in the draft class. That being said, his game is still a bit raw. Sure, he is an incredibly dynamic athlete who has immense offensive and defensive upside, but his upside as a player is greater than what we have seen so far.

I see two reasons why Dunn to Minnesota makes sense on a developmental level. First, Thibodeau is one of the best coaches in the NBA and he is going to get the absolute best out of Dunn, especially on the defensive side of the court.

On top of that, learning from Rubio on the offensive side would be a great way to develop his skill-set as a play-maker. Rubio is a fantastic passer who shows consistent ability to make the right play on the offensive side of the court. Learning under Rubio could help Dunn play under-control better, cutting down those turnovers.

Rubio may not want to really teach the guy who was drafted to take his spot, but if he is willing to show him the ropes, Dunn is only going to be better off for it.

I am sure Dunn wants to get right in there and take on a full load of minutes, but perhaps sitting back and learning how to play point guard at the NBA level will be best for him in the long-term. He is undoubtedly in a great situation to learn and grow as a player.
