Report: Manchester City after Toni Kroos
According to a report from ESPN, Pep Guardiola is determined to bring Toni Kroos to Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola is set to make his highly anticipated Premier League debut with Manchester City when the campaign kicks off in August. The Spaniard is the highest paid coach on the planet, with fans and media alike expecting a lot from the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich tactician.
While it is still just the beginning of July, Guardiola has already seen other English clubs spend big money this offseason to bolster their squads. The Citizen’s biggest rival Manchester United acquired both Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as Henrikh Mkhitaryan in recent times, as they look to get back into the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City are not to be outdone though, as Guardiola has his mind set on who he’d like to bring to Etihad Stadium. According to a report from ESPN, the Spaniard is in heavy pursuit of German international, Toni Kroos.
The aforementioned report suggests that Manchester City are currently in the process of preparing a mammoth €75 million for the 26-year-old. However, despite the massive transfer fee, it is yet to be seen whether Real Madrid will even consider letting the midfielder leave.
The German spent one season plying his trade under Guardiola at Bayern Munich, where the pair won a Bundesliga title together. The 2014 World Cup winner was sold to Real Madrid shortly after, for a transfer fee believed to be between €25 million and €30 million. If the reported €75 million bid that Manchester City are preparing is accurate, then it would represent a massive profit for Los Blancos is they agree to sell Kroos.
