Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales is on a eight-game hitting streak. With power and contact, he’s worth an add in the second half.

The Kansas City Royals are in second place in the American League Central, but are tied for a Wild Card spot. The team has suffered some injuries throughout the season. Yet, through the down time, a veteran has stepped up. Kendrys Morales is on a tear and should be added in all leagues.

While he’s a long way away from his 34 HR season, he is still crushing the ball. He had 22 home runs and 106 RBI with a .290 average last season. This season looks to be more of the same.

He has 14 home runs, 45 RBI and a .267 average. Morales has hit safely in his last eight games, hitting six home runs, 13 RBI and .613 in the process. He has two multi-home run and seven multi-hit games in that span.

More from Fantasy Baseball

Because of the recent injuries, Kendrys Morales has played right field in the last four games. Yeah, the 33-year-old first baseman/DH is in right field. And, for some strange reason, it seems to be working for both Kansas City and Morales.

While it will take six more games in right field for Morales to gain eligibility in ESPN leagues, his fantasy value hasn’t been higher. Having his power in an outfield slot will give you a lot of flexibility in your lineup.

Morales is hitting in the middle of the Royals lineup, anywhere from third to sixth. As I mentioned in the beginning of the season, a player’s spot in the lineup is very important when drafting and adding someone off the waiver wire.

Kendrys Morales is the most added hitter and second-most added player over the last seven days. He is owned in 47 percent of leagues. He is the perfect option on the waiver wire if you are in need of power and, for right now, batting average.
