Top 3 Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 14
Here are some players from the waiver wire who can help you this week and help aid in a victory if your team is in danger of missing the playoffs.
At this point in the season, you know where your team stands and where you may have to make some changes. There really is no denying where your team stands when it nears the All Star break. Is your team still vying for a playoff position or are you one of the teams dominating your league this season? If you’re on the outside looking, here are some players who can help your team get the win this week.
- Coco Crisp (OF) – Athletics
Coco Crisp as really turned it on as of recent for the Oakland Athletics. He has always been a reliable fantasy option when he remains healthy. Now, that he is healthy once again, he has been putting up quality fantasy numbers.
Crisp thus far in 2016 is averaging roughly 2.5 fantasy points per game which is an encouraging sign. Over the course of his career, the Oakland outfielder has proven to always be a constant threat to steal bases. He is quick and does not get caught too often either.

These are extra fantasy points that many cannot achieve because they do not possess the quickness that Crisp does. He has an 80 percent success rate when stealing bases throughout his career.
This season, the 36-year-old currently has a rising .244 batting average to go along with seven home runs, 34 RBI, and 28 runs scored. He has stolen five bases as well this season.
Crisp is in the midst of a nine game hitting streak too showing he is seeing the ball much better as of late. During the streak, Crisp has hit two home runs, knocked in 11 RBI, and scored 12 runs as well.
He is only owned in 14.3% of ESPN leagues out there, so he will be readily available for you. He will be facing the likes of Ricky Nolasco, Ervin Santana, and Tommy Milone when the Athletic play Minnesota early on in the week. They are all weak pitchers, so Crisp has the opportunity to really show off this week.
2. Archie Bradley (SP) – D-Backs
After making his MLB debut last season for Arizona, where he eventually went down with an injury, he is back in 2016. The 23-year-old has shown fantasy promise in his short time up in the majors.
Bradley this season is 3-3 with a 4.50 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 52 innings. Averaging roughly a K per inning is impressive from the young man. He looks like the prospect he was intended to be when he first came up last season, but began to decline after he was injured.
The right-hander has shown real promise from the fantasy perspective, so he could be worth a pickup for you in the near future. Bradley does not allow many hits, however his problem is, when he does, he often allows them to score. As he gets more and more experience on the mound though, he will become more comfortable in those situations and his ERA will go down.

He has thrown multiple quality starts this season and has minimal negative point starts which is very promising. He can help the back-end of your rotation as the season rolls on. He is only owned in 14.2% of leagues, so he should be there at your immediate convenience. Bradley will have an opportunity to pitch twice this week as well, which can be crucial for your match-up upcoming.
3. C.J. Cron (1B/ DH) – Angels
C.J. Cron has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball in recent weeks. Cron ranks in the top 15 in fantasy points for hitters over the past two weeks. He is putting up numbers in similar fashion with players such as Mike Trout, Jose Altuve, and Crisp for that matter.
Over the past two weeks, he has hit four home runs,13 RBI, and nine runs scored. He is averaging nearly five fantasy points per game during this time. His past two games against the Boston Red Sox, he has mauled them. He has gone 8-for-11 with three home runs and nine RBI. He has many multi-hit games, which has helped bring his average up.
It’s not only been his recent success, Cron has put together a quality season thus far. He is batting .287 with nine home runs and, perhaps most impressively, 42 RBI. He has a chance to really shine this season and the Angels may have found a first basemen for the future. Another reason to keep an eye on Cron, is he does not strikeout that often. He is a contact hitter, which fantasy owners love to see.
Cron is only owned in a mere 6.4% of leagues. I believe he will keep up the pace and put together a great season as he continues to develop at the major league level. He will take on a weak Tampa Bay pitching staff for four games early on in the week. He has ample opportunity to do some more damage there.
