Travis d’Arnaud spent much of the season on the DL, but is ready to make a fantasy impact. He is available for you to grab.

New York Mets young catcher Travis d’Arnaud is back and perhaps just at the right time. The Mets will look to gear up for a playoff run after the All-Star break next week and d’Arnaud will be there to lend a hand. He has spent much of the season on the DL with a strained rotator cuff. This injury cost the young catcher nearly two months. He and Mets are seeing a recent resurgence on the field.

d’Arnaud was pitiful to start the year before ultimately landing on the disabled list. He went 9-for-46, which equates to an ugly .196 batting average. He did not record a home run and only had recorded one RBI.

However, in his defense, it was the beginning of the season and d’Arnaud was still perhaps getting his feet wet. The injury more than likely played a factor in his dreadful numbers.

After nearly two months of being sidelined, Travis d’Arnaud has played the past two plus weeks and has impressed. He has gone 13-for-36, .361 average, with a home run with seven RBI. What is very impressive and noteworthy for me, however, is d’Arnaud has struck out just three times.

He is clearly seeing the ball better than he has previously and he will have a direct fantasy impact for your team.

There are few catchers that can put up quality fantasy numbers, but d’Arnaud is one of them. He should be owned in 100 percent of fantasy leagues. However, he is currently only owned 24.1 percent. Surely, this is a result of him missing extended time while recovering his strained rotator cuff.

Travis d’Arnaud is probably the fifth-best fantasy catcher in the game behind just Buster Posey, Salvador Perez, Wilson Ramos, and Jonathan Lucroy. His numbers will speak for themselves as he continues after the All-Star break.  He is averaging over two fantasy points per game since his return, which is great for a fantasy catcher.

Travis d’Arnaud is readily available, so be sure to pick him up while you can. Unless you have one of the four catchers I just mentioned, he will accumulate more points in the second half than whomever you may currently own.

Batting in a strong Mets lineup, he will have plenty of opportunities to score and drive in runs. The Mets are being cautious with him however, as they sit him a couple of times per week. Keep another catcher on roster if you can to fill in when the Mets sit d’Arnaud.
