Kris Dunn crosses Jakar Sampson back to the Stone Age
By Brad Weiss
Kris Dunn is one of the top young draftees playing in the NBA Summer League, and on Friday, he showed why he was a top pick in the draft.
The Minnesota Timberwolves opened their Summer League slate on Friday, and top draft pick Kris Dunn was front and center. The former Providence Friars point guard will likely starting for the T-Wolves in his first NBA season, and on Friday night he showed why.
In his first NBA action, Dunn put together a highlight reel, which included a killer crossover of Denver Nuggets guard Jakar Sampson. Not only did he fool Sampson with his crossover, but he absolutely broke his ankles.
That was not the only incredible play Dunn had on the night, as he threw down a vicious alley oop dunk early on.
The Timberwolves selected Dunn with the fifth overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft, and by the looks of his game on Friday night, they might have gotten a gem. Dunn was a top prospect headed into the draft, with some believing he could go as high as the number three pick.
Sure it is only the summer league, and Sampson only played sparingly for the Denver Nuggets last season, but T-Wolves fans sure have something to look forward to this season. Dunn appears to be the complete package, and the T-Wolves look to have a star on their hands.
