Timberwolves finalizing deal with Jordan Hill
By Hunter Cooke
The Minnesota Timberwolves had reportedly reached an agreement with Jordan Hill.
The Minnesota Timberwolves look like one of the dark horse teams in the NBA heading into the 2016-17 season. With dunkmaster Zach LaVine, the reformed Ricky Rubio, and young talents Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the Timberwolves are slowly reimagining the way they play basketball. Now, they’re adding to their roster by signing Indiana Pacers free agent Jordan Hill.
Hill’s immediate impact is hard to predict, but he will at least provide depth at center, where Minnesota also has an Towns, Gogrui Dieng and an aging Kevin Garnett.
Hill averaged 8.8 points for the Pacers in the 2015-2016 season; not a career high, but not in the lower half of his average points scored in his career. He isn’t in the twilight of his career yet, but his experience in the NBA will be invaluable to the Timberwolves, whose best players are not old enough to legally rent cars yet.
The Timberwolves are steadily improving, but the work isn’t done yet. They nearly doubled their win total from 2014-15 last season, and their draft picks are playing well. If the Timberwolves can keep their current nucleus of players intact, we could be looking at one of the premiere teams in the NBA very soon. The Timberwolves are looking to add more depth to their bench, and with the addition of Hill, I think they got it.
