What does Gregg Popovich do in his free time? Well, what did Picasso do when he wasn’t painting? What did John Parr do between sessions of composing “St. Elmo’s Fire?” What did Tiger Woods do when he wasn’t playing golf.

Let’s move quickly on. When it comes to Gregg’s spare moments, some say he spies on Russia. Some say he wills red wine into being with his mind. Some say that he virtualizes his being and competes in a computer-rendered world where physical limitation is no barrier. Whoa.

He probably doesn’t, but if he did here’s what it might look like:

I liked the part where he dunked the basketball.

More from NBA

The resemblance to the real Gregg Popovich is pretty uncanny. I mean, sure the face area is accurate if you discount the missing scowl, but the dunk itself is a near frame-for-frame mirror of the “Gregg Popovich Brings Down the House: Dunks and Funk and More Dunks” home training videos from the late 1970s. The motion capture experts outdid themselves here. The jumping form is nearly identical, including the trademark Popovich torque on the right ankle as he lifts in the air off both feet.

What does this mean for future pixelated Popovich’s? It’s hard to say at this time, but I’ve been working on a Pop Mii for Mario Golf on the 3DS, and I’ll probably check back in with that later.
