NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.
Scott Kazmir has never faced the Diamondbacks. His 4.35 ERA is a tad high, and with the way Yasmany Tomas has been hitting, you may want to be careful with this one.
Rookie Braden Shipley will oppose Kazmir. He was beat up a little by the Brewers in his debut. Wait until he figures things out before taking a shot on him. There are plenty of better options tonight.
Dillon Overton has a 8.40 ERA in three starts. Don’t even think about using him against Cleveland.

Best Bets:
Justin Verlander ($11,600): The thought of Verlander squaring off with a potentially potent Houston lineup may turn some away, but the stats are on our side. Verlander has held the Astros to an awful .188 average with three homers, 11 RBI, and 30 strikeouts. in 96 at bats. That strikeout total is in elite territory, and will help erase any runs he gives up. He is worth the cost if you are planning on paying up for a pitcher.
Drew Pomeranz ($10,300): We have had our share of slates, even in full ones, where we had very few options that had good past stats. This is not one of those nights. Pomeranz struggled in his Red Sox debut, but was markedly better against the Tigers last time out. Now he gets an Angels squad that is only hitting .209 off of him in 43 at bats with two homers and five runs. The nine strikeouts is a tad low for an elite option, but there is no reason to think he wont improve on that with the season he is having.
Julio Teheran ($9,500): Teheran has been brilliant this year, posting a 2.71 ERA and microscopic 0.96 WHIP. However, the Braves are so bad, he has just three wins to show for it. Still, the Phillies are hitting just .214 off of him in 140 at bats with three homers, nine runs, and 26 strikeouts. If you fade Verlander, Teheran is a good alternative, though he may not get you a win.
Honorable Mention:
Anthony DeSclafani ($9,400): DeSclafani dominated the Padres back on June 26th when they still had their hottest hitter, Melvin Upton Jr. in the lineup. He went eight scoreless innings while giving up only five hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk. His chances of a repeat performances are very good, especially considering he gets them at spacious Petco Park this time around.
Jameson Taillon ($8,200): Taillon put up 14.5 DraftKings points against the Brewers back on July 19, giving up just one run in six innings. He got a no decision and only struck out three though, which limited his value. He should do better in Miller Park with Chase Anderson on the hill across from him, and with Jonathan Lucroy and Ryan Braun the subject of nearly every trade rumor, that could water down an already weak lineup.
Josh Tomlin ($7,800): Tomlin seems very cheap tonight, especially when you consider his 10-3 record and 3.48 ERA. He wont rack up strikeouts, but he has held the A’s to a .180 average in 61 at bats with a homer and five runs, but he only has eight strikeouts. Still, I like his chances. Especially considering the home run was hit by Sam Fuld, who is on the disabled list.
Dark Horses:
Hector Santiago ($7,000): People are going to take one look at the .275 batting average against that the Red Sox own against Santiago and search for a better option. A deeper look at the numbers will tell you that the Red Sox only have five RBI off of him in 91 at bats, and have not hit a home run against him. They have also struck out 22 times. David Ortiz has four of the five RBI, but only has three singles against him in 14 at bats. Believe it or not, the odds are on your side.
Jaime Garcia ($6,900): The Marlins are hitting an average .245 off of Garcia, but they only have two homers and nine RBI in 102 at bats. Now for the bad news: They have only struck out 16 times, including just twice against Garcia on July 15th. He is a risk, but he is so cheap that it may just pay off.
Martin Perez ($5,300): First off, he is facing the struggling Ian Kennedy. Second, the current Royals roster is only 6-27(.222) against him and all of the hits are singles. He only has three strikeouts, but if he is not giving up runs and he is this cheap, can you really complain about it?
Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.
Miguel Gonzalez has pitched fairly well, but the Twins hit lefties hard. Especially this one. Brian Dozier ($3,600) is 3-8 with a walk and a RBI. Miguel Sano ($3,600) is 1-2 with a walk and a two run homer. Robbie Grossman ($3,300) is 2-4 with a walk, a homer, and three RBI. Kurt Suzuki ($2,800) is 4-5 with a walk, a double, and three RBI. At least Gonzalez doesn’t have to deal with Trevor Plouffe, who is 3-8 with a homer and three RBI off of him.
The Rockies are hitting a video-game like .397 against Bartolo Colon. It’s stack time! Nolan Arenado ($4,000) is 3-5 with a double, a homer, and five RBI off of Colon already. Charlie Blackmon ($4,000) is 3-6 with a double and a RBI. Carlos Gonzalez ($4,400) is 4-7 with a walk and two solo homers. He will be very popular tonight. Mark Reynolds ($3,300) is 7-19(.368) with two walks, two doubles, and a RBI against Colon.
The Tigers have four homers and 12 RBI in just 74 at bats against Mike Fiers. They are worth stacking! Ian Kinsler ($4,300) is 2-8 with a walk, a homer, and three RBI. Cameron Maybin ($3,700) is 3-8 with a double, a homer, and four RBI off of Fiers. Jarrod Saltalamacchia ($3,100) is perfect with a single and a solo homer against Fiers.
Rougned Odor ($4,600) is 2-5 with a double and a triple, but no RBI off of Ian Kennedy. Adrian Beltre ($4,100) is 4-10 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two driven in. At least Kennedy doesn’t have to deal with Prince Fielder or Drew Stubbs. They have combined for three homers and seven RBI off of him.
Colin Rea will make his Marlins debut against a Cardinals team that has knocked him around a little. Jedd Gyorko ($4,400) is 3-5 with a triple, a homer, and two RBI. Matt Holliday ($4,000) is 1-2 with a walk and a solo homer. Yadier Molina ($3,500) is 4-7 with a walk, a homer, and three RBI. Stephen Piscotty ($3,800) is 2-8 wtih a triple and a pair of RBI against Rea. It could be a rough Marlins debut for Rea.
The Pirates are quite fond of Chase Anderson. They are 22-55 against him. They are stack-worthy. Josh Harrison ($3,300) is 3-5 with two doubles, a homer, and two RBI. Starling Marte ($5,500) is 3-7 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Anderson. Gregory Polanco ($5,300) is 3-11 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI. Jordy Mercer ($3,500) is 5-6 with a double and two driven in against Anderson.
Next: More Notes For 7-30

George Springer ($4,400) doesn’t care about Justin Verlander’s credentials. Springer is 4-6 with a homer and two RBI against Verlander. Jose Altuve ($5,200) is 4-8 with a walk, a double, and a RBI. Those are the only two Astros hitting over the Mendoza line against Verlander.
Nick Markakis ($3,300) is only 9-44(.205) against Jeremy Hellickson, but he has two walks, a double, two homers, and six RBI if you are looking to play the lottery tonight.
Ryan Howard ($2,700) is only 4-24(.167) against Julio Teheran, but he has two solo homers against him. Cody Asche ($2,500) is only 5-21(.238), but he has a walk, a double, a homer, and five RBI against Teheran.
Johnny Giavotella ($2,400) is 1-2 with a three run homer off of Pomeranz. Mike Trout ($4,700) is just 1-8, but he has walked three times and the hit was a homer. Wondering about Albert Pujols? He is 1-12 lifetime against the young lefty.
Todd Frazier ($4,900) is 2-4 with a walk and a solo homer off of Tommy Milone. Avisail Garcia ($3,100) is 6-15 with a walk, a double, and a RBI against Milone.
Giancarlo Stanton ($4,800) is 4-6 with three walks, a double, and a solo home run against Jaime Garcia. Chris Johnson ($2,600) has torched Garcia. He is 6-20 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and eight RBI.
James Loney ($3,200) has just punished fellow lefty Jorge De La Rosa. Loney is 8-18(.444) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and seven RBI against him.
