The baseball world assumed that the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians had a deal set that would send Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Indians in exchange for one of their top prospects and at least two other players. Everyone thought that Lucroy would have welcomed a chance to play for a contender like the Indians, especially after they traded for Andrew Miller.
However, Lucroy reminded everyone what happens when you assume when he decided to use his no-trade clause to veto the trade. It is a decision that baffled and confused everyone. However, Lucroy had the Indians on the list of teams that he couldn’t be traded to, so he had every right to veto the trade. Fans might never know precisely why he vetoed the trade, but for the time being, Lucroy is still a Brewer.
Naturally, Indians fans were outraged about Lucroy shunning the city of Cleveland. After perhaps finding some joy in the Cleveland Cavaliers bringing home the NBA title, fans were forced to deal with the reality that the rest of Cleveland’s sports teams might be cursed. Their fans sprinted to Twitter to go after Lucroy and troll him over his decision.

Obviously, Jonathan Lucroy doesn't want to win. Indians fans, he did y'all a favor. You don't want players like that on your team anyway

Time will tell if Lucroy made the right decision. His decision to veto the trade might have had to do with his club option in 2017. Regardless of why he did it, Lucroy’s decision is one that will have a drastic effect on the MLB trade deadline.
