With the MLB trade deadline right around the corner, there have been plenty of MLB trade rumors going around. Some notable names have already been moved, but there are still plenty of good players that are available to help a contending team.

According to Joel Sherman, one player that will not be on the move before the trade deadline will be Shelby Miller of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It has been a very disappointing season for the Diamondbacks, as, after a great offseason, they find themselves in last place in the National League West. One of the offseason acquisitions that created hope for a good season in Arizona was the trade with the  Atlanta Braves that resulted in the Diamondbacks acquiring Miller.

Miller has been simply awful for the Diamondbacks this season, as he has totaled a 2-9 record and 7.14 ERA. Teams have inquired about Miller, but according to Sherman, the Diamondbacks aren’t willing to trade him in the middle of the worst stretch of his career.

In three full seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and Braves, Miller was a very solid pitcher, as he didn’t have a 4.00 ERA or higher in any of those seasons. Unfortunately for the Diamondbacks, Miller has been a mess this season and is one of the reasons why they have struggled so badly.

Even though the Diamondbacks are in dead last in their division, they aren’t willing to give up on Miller this season. The Diamondbacks had hopes that they would have one of the best rotations in the National League with Miller, Zack Greinke, and Patrick Corbin. All three have had down seasons, and the Diamondbacks appear to be willing to wait until next season and hope all three can figure it out in the second half of this season.
