Everyone thought that Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy was going to be traded to the Cleveland Indians, especially after the deal was reportedly finalized last night. However, Lucroy had the Indians on his no-trade list so he decided to veto the trade. The Indians have decided to move on, according to Ken Rosenthal.

Lucroy’s decision is one that has a major impact on the Indians. Thanks to the injury to Yans Gomes, the Indians desperately need to add a catcher at the trade deadline. Lucroy would have given them the premier catcher available at the 2016 MLB trade deadline and would have given them a great option behind the plate in 2017.
So where to the Indians go from here? They have other options in the trade market. Considering how badly the Baltimore Orioles need pitching and prospects, even though they are contenders, they might be willing to trade catcher Matt Wieters, though he is a free agent after this season. One intriguing option could be to pursue New York Yankees catcher Brian McCann. The Yankees would have to eat some money, but the Indians could likely get him for a fairly cheap price. McCann is still a good hitter and his plate approach is a flawless fit for the Indians lineup. He is, however, due $34 million through 2018.
