Update: Beltran has been traded from the Yankees to the Rangers.

Both the Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians are all-in for a World Series win in 2016. They are both still looking to add to their teams. Both the Rangers and the Indians have expressed interest in trading for New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran, according to Ken Rosenthal.

Beltran would make sense for either team. Both teams could use another bat and though Beltran is aging, he can still hit. He can still likely hit well enough to justify a spot in the outfield as well, especially if he’s not playing at a big park. The Yankees would love to get something for him as they are looking to reload for 2017. Beltran is a free agent after this season.

He would be an excellent bat to acquire because he is one of the best postseason bats in MLB history. Beltran is famous for his postseason success with the Houston Astros, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals. Since both the Rangers and the Indians are looking to win in 2016, adding Beltran could put them over the top.

Of the two teams, the Rangers are more likely to get Beltran, especially if they can’t get Jonathan Lucroy. The Indians have already given up a number of prospects to acquire Andrew Miller from the Yankees, but the Rangers still have an extremely deep farm system. Don’t count out Cleveland though, they’re clearly all-in.
