2016 Trade Deadline: Top 3 Players to Benefit Most After Moves

After the 2016 trade deadline, here are the three players that benefitted the most from their trades.

With the 2016 trade deadline now in the rear-view, players have been mixed and matched and will now look ahead towards playoffs. Which players will benefit the most from these respective trades. Perhaps, your trade deadline has not yet passed and you can still go out and get them.

This article will feature the three players I believe will make the most impact the rest of the season on their new teams.

1. Jay Bruce (OF) – Mets

It is strange seeing “New York Mets” next to Bruce’s name as he has spent his entire career in Cincinnati. Playing on a Mets team, looking to regain the late season magic they found just a year ago, I believe Bruce will make a significant impact with the club and for fantasy owners as well. Bruce has been tearing it up this season as he has done so many times before. He will have plenty of opportunities to mash at Citi Field.

Bruce has put together a stellar season so far, especially from the fantasy perspective. He is in the top 10 in fantasy points among all MLB outfielders. On the season, the left-hander has nearly 100 hits. He has a .265 batting average with 25 home runs, 80 RBI, and 60 runs scored. Bruce has always been one for power. Something to take note of is that Bruce’s strikeout rate is down nearly three percent from a season ago.

Bruce will now have an even better chance to contribute this season. The Mets lineup is overall better than the Reds and will be attempting to gear up for a playoff run. He will be able to help your team through the playoffs as the season rolls on.

However, it may take him a week or two to get fully acclimated to his new team.

2. Aroldis Chapman (RP) – Cubs

One of the best closer’s in the game being traded to arguably the best team in baseball this year cannot be good for their opponents. When you have a team that can score like the Cubs, it is almost safe to say you have the game in the bag come the later innings; especially with someone with the talents of Chapman pitching in the ninth inning.

Chapman, after serving his 30-game suspension, has dominated for the most part this season. He is 21-for-23 in save opportunities. He is 3-0 on the season with an impressive 2.06 ERA. The lefty has struck out 50 batters in just 35 innings of work. He is always a threat to strikeout the side throwing at 100+ MPH.

Chicago seems poised to head back to the playoffs. With Chapman manning the ninth inning from here on out, he will have some of the most opportunities to accumulate saves for your team. From this point forward, it would not surprise if he leads the MLB in saves.

3. Matt Moore (SP) – Giants

Moore has shown glimpses of greatness for stretches of time throughout his career. Moore was once a highly touted prospect and at 27-years-old, he still should be. Moore is still on his way back from recovering from Tommy John surgery and appears to be hitting his stride. He has gotten a better feel for the game recently.

His ERA has been decreasing with every passing start since late June. He had an impressive overall 2.41 ERA throughout the month of July. In his last 10 appearances, Moore has thrown eight quality starts. He has not recorded a negative point start in this time as well which is very encouraging.

Moore will have a better opportunity to win games playing on the San Francisco Giants. Regardless of their recent slump after the All-Star break, they still have one of the best lineups in baseball.

Moore on the season is 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA and 109 strikeouts. He also has a respectable WHIP which currently stands at 1.27. He has certainly been limiting the base runners this season which is a great sign. Moore can actually be a nice waiver pick up for many of you. He is owned in just 37.9 percent of ESPN leagues. I believe Moore will benefit tremendously from this trade.

All of these players have chances to really shine with their new teams. They have already impressed throughout the 2016 season and will now have even more chance to do so. They have the chance to compete for a championship which is all they will need.
