With training camps underway in the NFL and preseason games set to begin on Sunday, with the Hall of Fame Game, veterans that remain unsigned are beginning to jump at deals that they might have not been offered previously.
One player that a lot of teams had their eyes on was pass rusher Dwight Freeney. The veteran pass rusher signed with the Arizona Cardinals last October and instantly became the team’s best pass rusher and helped the reach the NFC Championship.
With the Cardinals acquiring Chandler Jones and having other young talented pass rushers on the roster, they didn’t bring Freeney back. Well it looks like Freeney has a new home.
According to Ian Rapoport, Freeney will indeed be signing with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons make all the sense in the world for Freeney schematically. Under Dan Quinn’s aggressive defense, Freeney can continue to rush the passer and get after the quarterback.
This year, the Falcons spent the draft working on making their defense more athletic and aggressive. Adding a veteran like Freeney will be critical for their growth.
