DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 9th
Finding value can be the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.
Unfortunately some of the recommended bargain plays failed to make the lineup last night, but I’m back with some players who should be able to provide some bang for your buck. Luckily for us, the game in Colorado has a 3:10 PM start time, so it wont effect any of the night slate. In looking at the night games, Toronto (5.3), Boston (5.4), and Chicago (5.5) have the highest projected team totals. Here’s a list of cheap value plays to consider when creating your lineups tonight.

Brock Holt – BOS (OF) – $3300
Holt has a favorable match up facing Severino, a righty. The Soxs have a projected team total of 5.4 and if Holt is batting 2nd, he’s a great play for the price.
Greg Garcia – STL (2B/SS) – $3000
Garcia failed to make the lineup last night, but hopefully he’ll get a chance to take some hacks tonight. Again, he’s facing a lefty, but he has neutral splits and he could take advantage of batting 2nd with the Cards projected at 4.9 runs.
John Jaso (1B) $2900/Josh Harrison (2B) $3200/Adam Frazier (2B/OF) $3300 – PIT
The Pirates have a decent team total projection of 4.7 runs. Depending on who draws the top two spots in the order will determine who has value. All three players are fairly cheap, so it’s just a matter of lineup position.
Michael Saunders – TOR (OF) – $3600
Saunders is another player with reverse splits. He’s fared much better against lefties with a .424 wOBA and .340 ISO split. With Toronto’s team total and Saunders’ power upside, he’s an intriguing option.

Note: Keep in mind that recommended plays are based off of early information and will be subject to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where I’ll try to update these plays the best I can!
