DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 10th (7:00 PM only)

Finding value can be the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

Tonight’s slate features 12 games with a few high scoring games standing out. While the Rockies are on the road, their game in Texas still holds the highest team total with the Rangers being projected at 6.2 team runs. The next highest team totals are Boston (5.5), Toronto (5.3), Milwaukee (5.3), Pittsburgh (5.1), and Chicago (5.0). Given the amount of relatively high team totals, pricing seems to be fairly soft, creating value. Here are my top cheap value plays to consider plugging in your lineups.

David Dahl – COL (OF) – $3400

Dahl faces a lefty tonight, but so far, he’s proven successful against both righties and lefties. In his rookie year, he holds a wOBA split of .442 vs. lefties. He’s simply too cheap given his recent form.

Darwin Barney – TOR (2B/SS) – $2000

Barney has been just about as bad as you can get, but if he cracks the lineup, he’s by far the best punt option. At the stone minimum price, Barney is on the good side of a righty vs. lefty match up and would benefit from a Toronto team total of 5.3 runs. Don’t expect much, but if he can get on base once or twice, he should return value.

Kolten Wong – STL (2B) – $2700

Wong holds a .303 wOBA against righties and he’s too cheap if he’s leading off for the Cards.

John Jaso -PIT (1B) – $3000

Jaso was able to reach base twice last night with a hit and a walk. Pittsburgh has a favorable run total of 5.1 runs and yet again, his place in the order will determine his value.

Ryan Rua – TEX (1B/OF) – $3800

Rua has everything going for him tonight. He’ll benefit from a righty vs. lefty split, a cheap price, and a huge team total of 6.2 runs. Rua holds a wOBA of .358 against lefties. He’ll be in consideration where ever he ends up in the lineup, but hopefully he makes the top five.

Others players to consider: Raburn, Mahtook, Thole, Harrison, Holt, Martin, Pedroia
