Brewers outfielder Keon Broxton is making contact and quickly running around the bases. If you need average or steals in the final weeks, he is worth a waiver wire add.
The Milwaukee Brewers are in a rebuilding phase, but still have some solid pieces with a lot of fantasy value. One of those is 26-year-old outfielder Keon Broxton. He’s played well in his 46 games this season and with the fantasy playoffs looming, he is someone to add for bench depth.
Broxton had previous big-league experience with the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, but had just two at bats. This season, his playing time has been sporadic, but he’s turned it up over the last two weeks.
Since August 1, Broxton has a .387 average with one home run, five RBI, seven runs scored and six steals. He also has a .486 OBP with a 11:6 K:BB ratio. On the season, he is hitting .230 with three homers, 11 RBI, 17 runs and 14 steals.

Broxton wasn’t much of a power hitter in the minors, career high 19 in 2012 with High-A Visalia Rawhide. He did possess speed though. In 873 minor league games, he had 168 steals. He could steal at least 30 bases if he played in a full MLB season.
Broxton is patient at the plate, 20.8 O-Swing and 13.5 swinging strike rates, but needs to work on making more contact with the ball. He has a 67.4 contact rate. If he qualified, he would rank 153rd in the league.
Brewers management, fans, and fantasy owners are hoping this hot streak can continue for the rest of the season. His speed is making him relevant in deeper leagues, but a higher batting average will make him a draft selection next season.

Fantasy owners are aware of Broxton, as he’s been added in 5.7 percent of ESPN leagues over the last week. He is one of the few speed options on the waiver wire. If you play in a roto league and want to gain some ground, he is someone worth adding. While his current batting average may negatively affect you, his recent streak may change that.
