DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 19th

Finding value can be the ever so elusive, ā€œHoly Grail.ā€ Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLBĀ picks.

Last night’s bargain plays lived up to expectations, as the Padres were able to toss-up nine runs and each of the recommended players was able to get in on the action. Dickerson and Kim were the standout picks, each scoring over 17 DraftKings’ points. Friday’s slate features 15 games, with two teams standing out as the favorites to score the most runs, the Cubs (5.7), and the Dodgers (5.3). I don’t have a team that is glaring under priced like last night, with San Diego. However, there are a few players on the Baltimore roster that are under priced and would provide value if they make the lineup (Kim, Pearce, Reimold). Here are my top bargain players for tonight’s slate.

Next: Value Bats

Hyun-Soo Kim – BAL (OF) – $3600

As mentioned Kim had a big night last night with 4 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 runs. I’ll have Kim in just about every one of my lineups tonight. Baltimore has a reasonably high team total with 4.8 runs against the Astros. Kim will face another righty tonight and is almost a must play at this price.

Steve Pearce – BAL (1B/2B) – $3300

More from FanSided

Pearce is another player from the Baltimore squad that is very under priced. He has neutral splits and has a slightly better wOBA against righties than lefties. If he’s batting 6th or better, he’s a great play.

Franklin Gutierrez – SEA (OF) – $3700

Seattle is projected to score 4.9 runs and Gutierrez will be a beneficiary if he’s batting second. Gutierrez will be on the good side of a righty vs. lefty split. Gutierrez holds a .381 wOBA and a .238 ISO split.

Billy Butler/Yonder Alonso – OAK (1B) – $3600

Both of these guys are the same price tonight, and whichever player is batting 5th, will be a great value play. Oakland is facing the righty, Shields, tonight. Alonso is a lefty with favorable splits against righties and Butler is a righty with reverse splits. I’d prefer Butler, but Oakland has a projected team total of 4.9 and both players are under priced given the total.

Tyler Collins – DET (OF) – $2100

Collins is one of the best punt options tonight. He’s facing a righty tonight and if he’s batting sixth, he’ll be a source of salary relief.

Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where I’ll try to update these plays the best I can!
