Middlesbrough face Tottenham at the Riverside on Saturday, Sept. 24. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Middlesbrough have struggled in recent weeks after taking four points from their opening two games. They have now lost their past two Premier League matches, against Crystal Palace and Everton. Boro took the lead against the Toffees last week — thanks to some dubious refereeing, admittedly — but couldn’t contain Ronald Koeman’s side for long. In the Championship last season, Boro’s biggest strength was their defense, so they will likely need to improve on their record of one clean sheet in five games if they are to avoid relegation this season. Alvaro Negredo has made some difference in attack, but if he can’t score around 15 goals this season, Boro may be in trouble.

Tottenham have flown under the radar a little bit to start this season, but they’ve been excellent. They are in third place and are one of only three teams (along with Everton and Manchester City) who remain undefeated in 2016-17. That is largely thanks to the strength of their defense — Spurs have conceded only two goals so far — but questions remain at the other end of the pitch. Tottenham are currently the only team in the top six to have scored fewer tan 10 goals (they’re on eight) and, to make matters worse, star forward Harry Kane is injured and could be out for up to two months. In his absence, summer signing Vincent Janssen is expected to start. He will have his work cut out to replicate Kane’s contributions.

Tottenham will expect to take three points, but it will be interesting to see how they will respond to the loss of Kane. Boro will be optimistic of keeping his replacement quiet.
