Ole Miss Rebels senior quarterback Chad Kelly unleashes a 55-yard bomb to wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge to put the Rebels up 24-0 on the Georgia Bulldogs.

For the No. 23 Ole Miss Rebels to beat the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs at home in Week 4, Ole Miss’ best player senior quarterback Chad Kelly had to have himself a big day. Kelly has great arm talent, but costly turnovers from the senior signal caller have the Rebels in a 1-2 early in 2016.

Ole Miss was already up 17-0 on the Bulldogs early in the second quarter when Kelly throws an absolute bomb to wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge for a 55-yard touchdown to give Ole Miss a 24-0 lead on Georgia after the Gary Wunderlich made PAT.

On a first and 10 from the Ole Miss 45-yard line, Kelly pulls the ball back on a run-pass option before running to his right. Kelly miraculously shakes off a certain Georgia sack by outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter before heaving the ball deep down field to Lodge for an Ole Miss paydirt.

Kelly has the necessary arm strength to play on Sundays. It does help that his uncle is Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. Should Kelly continue to make big plays with his arm for Ole Miss, he could climb into the back-end of the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He’s not Eli Manning, but Kelly is the best signal caller to have played in Oxford since Manning starred for the Rebels in the early 2000s. NFL scouts have to like Kelly’s competitiveness and his fearlessness in wanting to the football downfield with authority. He looked outstanding on this Ole Miss touchdown early in the second quarter.
