Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb limped off the field vs. Ole Miss and could be forced out of the rest of the game.

The biggest question facing the Georgia Bulldogs this year wasn’t how Kirby Smart would fare in his first year as a head coach or how quick Jacob Eason could learn the offense. The biggest question facing Georgia was the health of All-SEC running back Nick Chubb after he underwent knee surgery to repair his damaged knee.

Chubb looked fully healthy when he ran for more than 200 yards in the season opener, but has since come back to Earth a bit in recent weeks. Chubb hopes to get back on track on Saturday against the Ole Miss Rebels but after the team fell down early, Chubb suffered an ankle injury and limped off the field.

Chubb has been ruled “out for now” and considering Ole Miss is blowing the Dawgs out, it would be wise to keep Chubb on the sidelines and under the care of the team’s medical and training staff.

Georgia can’t afford to risk playing Chubb if he’s got a tender ankle and will be wise to be cautious with their star back. It remains to be seen how severe the injury to his ankle is, but more information will likely be available at the end of the game or Sunday or Monday.

Should Georgia have to play without Chubb, it’s obviously going to be a damaging blow considering his importance to the offense and the team’s chances. But they do have Sony Michel serving as his backup and he’s one of the best No. 2 backs in the country. Having said that, Georgia is a much better team when they can use both of those guys to keep the pressure off the right arm of Eason.
