DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for September 28th
Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail” in Fantasy Baseball. Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.
Tonight’s slate features 14 games, with Texas, again, projected to score the most runs. The next highest team totals belong to Boston (5), Toronto (4.9), Washington (4.9), and St. Louis (4.8). At first glance, Texas and St. Louis both appear to be under priced on DraftKings, but we’ll have to monitor this as lineups are released. You’ll notice a lot of overlap from last night’s bargain plays, as most players are in similar match ups, with similar projections.

Andrew Benintendi – BOS (OF) – $3200
Andrew Benintendi was able to meet value again last night, recording two hits (one being a double) and scoring a run. He’ll face another righty tonight, where he holds a .428 wOBA and a .258 ISO split. Given the hitter friendliness of Yankee stadium, and Boston’s run projection of 5 runs, Benintendi is once again, my favorite bargain play.
Matt Carpenter – STL (2B/3B) – $3800
The Cardinals are have a favorable projection of 4.8 runs, and given the price drop, Matt Carpenter will make for a great value play. Carpenter fares much better against righties, with a .396 wOBA and a .276 ISO split. Carpenter also offers dual position eligibility on DraftKings.

Stephen Drew – WSH (2B/SS) – $3800
Stephen Drew will draw another enticing match up against a righty, Shelby Miller. Drew has drastic splits against righties, with a .386 wOBA and a .280 ISO split. Other than last night, Drew has been able to meet or exceed value in his last six appearances.
Brandon Moss – STL (1B/OF) $3300
Brandon Moss has struggled mightily of late, but is in a good spot, against a righty, at a deflated price. Moss is on the good end of lefty vs. righty match up, where holds a .353 wOBA and a .309 ISO split. Moss has legitimate home run upside, especially against a righty. For the year, he’s averaging .065 home runs per at bat.
T.J. Rivera – NYM (2B/3B) – $3200
T.J. Rivera turned out to be a great bargain play last night with two hits, and one being a triple. Rivera will face another righty, where he holds a .418 wOBA and a .211 ISO split.
Anthony Recker – ATL (C) – $2900
Anthony Recker should be considered if you’re looking to punt, at the catching position. He will face the lefty tonight, Adam Morgan. Recker holds a .394 wOBA split against lefties. Recker has been trending in the right direction and has impressive batted ball stats, of late. In the past 15 days, he’s had an average distance of 291 feet, and exit velocity of 99 MPH, and a hard hit percentage of 50%.
