After winning game 1, the Blue Jays are up 2-0 in Game 2 after a home run from Troy Tulowitzki.

The Toronto Blue Jays‘ slugged their way to a 10-1 victory in game 1 of the ALDS against the Texas Rangers. Josh Donaldson finished the day 4-4 with two runs batted in while Troy Tulowitzki contributed three hits along with three RBI’s.

The team is picking up right where they left off in game 2 after a shot by Tulowitzki put them up 2-0. The home run was no cheap shot off of Yu Darvish as it exited the park quickly:

Things need to change quickly for the Rangers if they expect to have any chance in this series. Darvish posted a respectable 3.41 earned run average in 17 starts after coming off the disabled list in mid-July. He will need to limit the long ball if the Rangers want to climb their way back in.

Hitting is proving to be the biggest issue for the Rangers as they mustered just four hits in Game 1 off of starter Marco Estrada who went 8.1 innings giving up just a single run.

The Rangers have threatened early in Game 2 putting runners on first and second base in the second inning but failed to score.  If the bats don’t wake up then the Rangers will risk falling down 0-2 in the series and have to play an elimination game in Toronto. That would be an extremely disappointing start to the series for a team that owned the best regular season record in the American League.

Game 3 is set to feature the Blue Jays’ Aaron Hernandez against the Rangers’ Colby Lewis. That doesn’t bode well for Texas as Hernandez has been lights out this season posting a 15-2 record. We’ll see if the Rangers can get Darvish the offensive support needed to tie this series at one.
