The undefeated Maryland Terrapins will head to Happy Valley on Saturday, as they face the Nittany Lions of Penn State.
The Penn State Nittany Lions come into Saturday’s matchup with the undefeated Maryland Terrapins on a high. Last week, Penn State defeated Big Ten rival Minnesota in overtime, as star running back Saquon Barkley scored on a 25-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the extra period. Maryland has played well all season long and could crack the Top-25 with a win against the Nittany Lions.
Maryland is one of four teams in the Big Ten who are still undefeated, though they do not get as much press as the other three. Joining the Terps with a spotless record are Michigan, Ohio State, and Nebraska. Penn State will be looking to end the Maryland perfect season on Saturday, which is something they failed to do against Michigan two weeks ago.
The Terps have an incredibly balanced offense, featuring a steady player at the quarterback position. Perry Hills has completed better than 61 percent of his passes this season and has five touchdowns against only one interception. Running backs Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison have combined a seven touchdowns on the young season, and are both averaging over 70 yards on the ground.

Penn State has one of the best young running backs in the country, as sophomore Saquon Barkley has been a bright spot for the team this season. Despite missing time due to an injury, Barkley has rushed for 380 yards this season, while scoring seven times. Quarterback Trace McSorley has done a nice job replacing Christian Hackenberg under center, but he has not shown consistency in his first year as the starter.

This game will be a good test for the Terps, who are trying to crack the Top-25. They are coming off a thrashing of Purdue last week, and a win on Saturday would show the country they are a team to be reckoned with. Penn State just is too inconsistent at this point, and Maryland’s ground game may be too much for them. Look for the Terps to continue their undefeated season on Saturday.
